The idea

A place to rest properly, not another trip to plan

Many holidays leave families more tired than before: crowded itineraries, hotel buffets, early starts. Soom Jeju is the opposite. A small team handles everything, and guests do very little except sleep, eat well, move gently and recover.

A private chef cooks every meal. A bilingual host, who is also the yoga teacher, stays with you for all five days. There is one short outing per stay. The rest of the time belongs to the house, the garden and the view.

  • Truly private

No tour groups, no crowds, no hotel buffet. A quiet house in the orchard.

  • Rest is the programme

No compulsory early mornings. Yoga and meditation are offered every day and are always optional.

  • A garden that is part of the stay

Pick tangerines, make marmalade with your children and take a gift box home.

  • One team, one language

Vietnamese and English throughout, from the first enquiry to the airport drop-off.

  • Food as recovery

Light Vietnamese, Korean and Western menus chosen before arrival, cooked from Jeju produce.

Location

The house sits on the hillside of Seohong-dong, above Seogwipo city on Jeju's southern coast, between the sea and the foothills of Mount Hallasan. It is surrounded by tangerine orchards and basalt stone walls, away from main roads. Jeongbang and Cheonjiyeon waterfalls, forest trails and the coastal Olle walking routes are a short drive away.

Climate

Sea breezes and the hillside setting keep the air fresh and cool. Seogwipo is the mildest part of Jeju, so winter is cool and comfortable rather than cold. Nights are quiet and dark, which helps deep sleep.

The house

Stone, timber and a terrace facing the sea

  • Two private bedrooms upstairs, being refitted to resort standard: premium beds and linen, blackout curtains, sound insulation
  • Lower-level studio for yoga, meditation and in-house spa, being fitted with heated wooden floors and soft lighting
  • Shared living room with open kitchen and wood-burning fireplace
  • Covered basalt-stone terrace and rooftop deck facing the sea
  • Garden of tangerine and persimmon trees

Interior and terrace photos show the house in 2023, before its refit.
